It is a tradition that has almost been lost in the villages. It consists of the blessing of the houses of the people for the priest and the exchange of salt and water. The priest, accompanied by some neighbors, blesses house by house. The day of the Virgen de los Dolores is celebrated.

In Famorca it starts with the FESTIVITY OF THE VIRGEN DE LOS DOLORES: It is the Friday before the Palm Sunday (now celebrated the previous Saturday).
This day Famorca dresses up, there are festive people, a religous mass and in the afternoon the procession. Day that the people of the town is looking forward to. It continues with the celebration of Holy Thursday, Holy Office, viacrucis and the celebration of the Easter Vigil with the song of the Aurora.

Famorca celebrates its major festivals on the weekend closest to August 7, the feast of its Patron San Cayetano. They are a patron saint festival in honor of San Cayetano and the Most Holy. Even so, being a patron saint festival, the visitor will be able to enjoy acts of all kinds and for all tastes: masses and processions, offerings, paellas, children’s cucañas, bands, dinners … 4 days in which mixes the present with tradition and folklore.

Church dating from the late sixteenth century. Inside the Church you will be able to see many images, they are all from after the war. In the war all the images were burned, only the “Infant Jesus of Prague” was saved from the fire. You will be able to appreciate the main altar in honor of San Cayetano, recently restored.

Ascent to the Font dels Olbits

Ascent to the Font dels Olbits

You can also go on a trip to the “FONT DELS OLBITS”. Leaving from the same place but following the “Camí del Pla la Cova”. Passing through the place of the Cova and following the indicators that are in front of the house of the hunters. Address Castell de Castells, you will reach the font dels Olbits. This route is part of the Circular Trail of the Barranc de Malafí.
